Good Cause
There was a little unexpected drama at Singapore Water Association’s booth yesterday morning. All in a good cause.
A modest ceremony marked the donation of S$25,000 to the Singapore Water Association (SWA) by Mr Len Rodman, Black & Veatch’s Chairman, President and CEO. The donation is funded through Black & Veatch’s Building a World of Difference Foundation.
Sembcorp’s Group President and CEO, Mr. Tang Kin Fei, was on hand to receive the donation in his role as President of the SWA. In a surprise move Mr. Rodman had upped the original intended sum. Moved by the donation, Mr. Tang also revealed that he intended to match the B&V donation. That would bring the total donation to the Singapore Water Association to S$50,000.
It is envisaged that the money will help go toward the further development of the Singapore Water Association’s Emergency Resource Group. The Emergency Resource Group was set-up as a joint initiative between PUB, Black & Veatch and other SWA members earlier this year. The Group will help prepare and better-equip water professionals in Singapore to contribute knowledge and provide resource to communities across Asia Pacific in times of emergency.
