So how does it feel to be in Singapore?
We’re trying to capture the sights, sounds, tastes, smells and feelings of Singapore for those of you unable to attend SIWW — all these sensory inputs are difficult to convey, but here are a few feelings I can put my finger on:
• First of all, I would have to note that the main feeling is that of HEAT. Sultry Singapore couples that heat with high humidity, and that combination makes me droop. And just imagine that yesterday was the beginning of winter in the Southern Hemisphere.
• In a less “concrete” way, but without a doubt, Singapore feels vibrant. As you read in Jim’s blog, people walk fast around here and certainly there is a hustle and bustle that makes you feel like the economy is thriving. In fact, you could say with all the construction going on, it actually does feel vibrant in a “concrete” way, if you’ll forgive the pun.
• Another of the “feelings” I get when I sit a café and people-watch is that there is a sense of hope here…maybe it’s because I keep noticing many happy, pregnant women walking down the street or because people I meet seem so friendly and optimistic. Maybe it’s just that I’ve been thinking about my “theory” for a couple of days and finding confirmation because I’m looking for it.
