PWN Technologies Launched in Singapore
Tonight I, along with several other B&V professionals, attended a reception by PWN in association with SIWW, to launch their new subsidiary company called PWN Technologies. PWN is a water supply company in North Holland that has developed innovative solutions to water treatment problems for many decades. PWN became well known for their pioneering work with reverse osmosis beginning in the mid 1970s. They installed an integrated membrane plant in 1999 using UF/RO for a drinking water plant. In 2004 they developed the use of UV and peroxide for disinfection and as a means to reduce micro-constituents. Since that time they have patented the SIX process which is a suspended ion exchange process which can reduce suspended particles from a surface water supply. There are many benefits of SIX including compact footprint, low resin concentration, and low salt concentration. They have married the SIX process with ceramic membranes, UV/peroxide, and GAC to develop a fully integrated process that produces the highest quality water. PWN Technologies is currently focused on ceramic membranes with a spotlight on reducing the footprint of the membranes, reducing the energy requirements, and reducing the cleaning requirement, yet maintaining a high level of reliability.
PWN prides themselves on the solutions they provide which are innovative, reliable and most notably, proven. All of the research conducted by PWN ends in full scale implementation to validate the research. As they say “seeing is believing”!
Black & Veatch has partnered with PWN for many years and formed a strong relationship as reflected by the involvement of Jonathan Clement, B&V Global Practice and Technology Leader in launching PWN Technologies tonight. Jonathan was one of the speakers at the ceremony and highlighted the many technology advancements PWN has contributed to the water treatment industry. It is great for B&V to have such a close relationship with a utility that constantly looks ahead to solve the challenges of tomorrow. We, B&V, look forward to more opportunities to partner with PWN in the future.

Tomorrow is the Opening Ceremony for SIWW and the beginning of a technical extravaganza! Stay tuned!
