Media Tour the Sembcorp Changi NEWater Plant
Some 20 journalists toured the Sembcorp Changi NEwater Plant on June 18th. The media tour was organised by Sembcorp Industries who invited their project partners Black & Veatch, Siemens, Toray and Biwater to join the journalists and help answer any questions about the more technical aspects of the plant.

Stage 1 of the plant is in the final stages of testing with first flow of NEWater to be delivered next month. It will be the fifth and largest of Singapore’s NEWater plants when Stage 2 comes online and at a full capacity will meet 15% of Singapore’s current water needs. The five NEWater plants combined will meet just less than one third of Singapore’s current water needs by 2010. The main process facilities of the NEWater plant are housed on top of the PUB-owned Changi Water Reclamation Plant. The Changi WRP will be officially opened at a evening ceremony during SIWW. The Sembcorp Changi NEWater Plant is being built on a fast track schedule and when complete will be one of the largest water recycling facilities in the world.
