Marina Barrage Makes The Singapore River Nicer To Be Around

The Official Opening of Marina Barrage
I am fortunate to have a much coveted view in the Black & Veatch Office in Singapore. My corner office overlooks the Singapore River – it helps me while away the hours in contemplation and reverie while others are working.
Until the Marina Barrage was constructed downstream, my view was often blighted by the river changing colour from clear to green to a nice brown after the frequent torrential downpours we get here at time – and the level was constantly changing.
But the Marina Barrage has changed my life. No more do I have to endure this changing waterscape. The river level is constant, the water is mostly clear and now electric BumBoats ferry Mad Dogs and English Men up and down at high noon. Amusing to watch their translucent skin turn from a Whiter Shade of Pale to a nice red.
So I would like to thank my colleagues who worked so hard in helping to deliver the barrage. I am very honored that such a project was implemented for my benefit. (Tongue firmly in cheek!)
