Colorful Singapore — it’s Honmaya!
Still trying to be your eyes and ears here at SIWW, so I thought I’d write a “color piece” and report on some of the colors of Singapore and SIWW.
First, here’s a multi-colored Singapore site– the famous MICA building, formerly a police barracks

The prominent color at the conference, of course, is aqua blue, the theme color of SIWW and PUB’s mascot Wally the Water Drop.

Green comes to mind because of the environmentally friendly aspects of our exhibition booth and press conference materials, as we’re handing out minimal hardcopies to try to save some trees. Here’s a poster outlining the green approaches of the conference.

There’s gold – well, that’s the bottom line for many of these forums and business meetings – turning blue into gold, right. OK, I’m not exactly seeing ultraviolet but I’m hearing about UV filtration and other methods of making sure the quality of our water is pure. So that leads to another color – or lack thereof – clear, as in clear water. Here’s a pink-labeled bottle of clear water from Osaka, Japan, called “Honmaya!” which is a word used by Osakans to express astonishment and surprise.

Finally, I’m definitely seeing red as my eyes are red because it’s late and it’s been a long but intellectually stimulating – and colorful – day at SIWW!
