3 Non-Water Reasons I Wish I Were at SIWW
Posted by: Gayle Leonard
Many of us at Black & Veatch Water WISH we were going to SIWW, but not just for the great information and networking for water people!
Here are three reasons I wish I were in Singapore that have nothing to do with water!
1. The Jurong Bird Park: A 20.2 hectare open-concept park. It is the largest aviary in the Asia Pacific region and arguably the best in the world. The park’s collection includes more than 8,000 birds from 600 species, specializing in birds from Southeast Asia.
2. UPDATE: See the comments, this attraction is no longer operating! The DHL Balloon: This helium balloon rises up to 40 stories (150 metres high) and would be a memorable way to take in beautiful 360 degree views of the Singapore cityscape. For now, we can make-do with this video from one visitor who recorded the experience!

3. The Singapore Flyer: If the DHL Balloon is too high for you, how about the world’s largest giant observation wheel? There were nearly 2 million visitors to The Singapore Flyer in 2008. I’ll bet that gorgeous Singapore skyline looks phenomenal from the top of this thrill ride!

Well we wish you were here too Gayle. Come on over!
Actually the DHL balloon is no more. It was near the new ‘Flyer’ and I guess they did not want the competition.
The Singapore Zoo and Night Safari are also musts…

I took the Night Safari at the Singapore Zoo a couple of years ago as part of the annual outing with the B&V Singapore office gang. You ride a tram through the dark and the animals “pop out” — it was fascinating and I’m not really a zoo fan
